As a baby-led weaning advocate, I encourage whole solid foods over purees and spoon feeding. I do however also like offering baby smoothies, green juices and soups. But of course, feeding these from a cup can be very messy and if your child is anything like mine she will be determined to do it all herself and will not allow you help in any way. This is where it can be useful to offer food in a pouch.
To keep it in the baby-led weaning zone it is important to continue to give your baby full control. They need to be able to hold the pouch, bring it to their mouth and suck the liquid out on their own. To have a couple of pouches on hand while travelling was a life saver, especially on long plane trips when I didn’t want Bowie eating the airline food or have to deal with the inevitable mess.
Now that I am home, finding a reusable pouch was important to me so Bowie could enjoy the benefits of green smoothies on the go. Luckily, I was given the chance to review EZ Squeezees, talk about perfect timing! EZ Squeezees are a refillable pouch designed to hold all your favourite liquids, pureed and mashed foods. Here is the low down.
- Hold up to 190g (6.5oz)
- Dishwasher safe
- Can be frozen
- BPA & Phthalate free
- All layers are recyclable
- Can be used up to 30 times
What I really like about these pouches is how easy they are to fill. The pouch unzips down the length and has a large gusset on the opposite side that acts as a stand and increases the volume. Due to the large opening, it is simple to pour any liquid without fear of spilling and it seals smoothly with a remarkably strong seal. After use they can be washed by hand to prolong the life of the pouch to 25 to 30 washes, otherwise, it can be washed in the dishwasher and will last approximately 15 washes.
I enjoyed testing out the EZ Squeezees and so far have used it for smoothies and soups. Bowie at 13 months has had no trouble holding it herself as it is a great size for little hands. The EZ Squeezees are also convenient for picnics and day trips when you only need a little milk for your cup of tea or dressing for salad, all without mess or waste. They would even be perfect for filling with paint for arts and crafts. On one side there is enough space to write the contents of the pouch up to 15 times which will save confusion if you DO decide to fill with homemade paint or glitter glue!
I highly recommend investing in EZ Squeezees if you have a little one who loves to feed themselves or need an easy snack when out and about. I love that they are reusable as it means less rubbish for our landfills, something we all need to look out for.
